Meet Our Founders

A Father-Son Team Committed to Better Care

Greg Adair founded Affordable Home Care in 1989. A U.S. Army veteran with a Master's in Health Administration, Greg went on to run nursing homes after his service—and what he witnessed there changed everything. Patients shuffling through halls, moaning and crying, with sometimes just one aide caring for twenty people at a time. Read Greg's full bio →

"I knew my own mother and father could not get the care they deserved in an institutional setting," Greg recalls. "That's when I knew there had to be a better way."

He discovered that in-home care could eliminate the fear and confusion of nursing homes while allowing families to maintain healthy relationships without the stresses of caregiving weighing them down.

In 2006, Greg's son Austin Adair joined the family business, continuing the legacy his father built. Today, Austin leads the company, ensuring that the same values of compassion and quality care that Greg established remain at the heart of everything they do. Learn more about Austin's story →

Together, this father-son team has grown Affordable Home Care into one of the oldest and largest home care agencies in Southeast Michigan—built on family values, for your family.

Care Oversight Team

Behind every care plan we build is a quiet team — an MHA-credentialed operations leader, a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, and a Registered Nurse — who guide our local team on care-plan structure, dementia approach, and clinical questions. The hands-on care is always delivered by our local Southeast Michigan caregivers, who are held to the caregiver standard we publish openly.

Extended Support Team

Your Primary Honor Contacts

Honor provides and oversees the caregiving workforce, with a multi-layered support team spanning operations, scheduling, training, and clinical oversight. Affordable Home Care coordinates your care experience and serves as your primary point of contact. Of Honor's broader team, Erica and Alurabeth are the two members Austin works with most directly every day on behalf of our Southeast Michigan clients.

Erica Thompson, Honor General Manager for the Detroit region, who supports Affordable Home Care client operations.

Erica Thompson

General Manager, Detroit Region (Honor)

Bringing more than 15 years of elite home care experience, Erica serves as the General Manager overseeing operations for Honor's Detroit region. She provides strategic leadership and operational excellence, making sure local teams have the resources and support needed to deliver the highest standard of care to families.

Prior to stepping into this regional leadership role, Erica spent four successful years as a General Manager for Home Instead, cultivating a deep, foundational understanding of high-quality care delivery and community-first operations.

Erica is guided by a profound personal passion: ensuring that aging adults can maintain their independence, dignity, and comfort at home for as long as possible. Rather than settling for short-term fixes, she champions a philosophy rooted in compassion, operational stability, and sustainable, long-term care solutions for both clients and their care teams.

Outside of work, Erica volunteers at her local senior community center — organizing enriching activities and outings that keep seniors active, engaged, and connected. She is an avid hiker and a proud parent and grandparent who cherishes time with her two adult daughters and grandson.

Erica works directly with Austin on Affordable Home Care client operations across Southeast Michigan.

Alurabeth McDaniel, Honor Client Manager who coordinates day-to-day client communications for Affordable Home Care families.

Alurabeth McDaniel

Client Manager (Honor)

Alurabeth is a dedicated client management and behavioral health professional with more than 9 years of specialized experience in healthcare operations, client relations, and service coordination. As a Client Manager, she plays a pivotal role in operational excellence — managing key partner communications, upholding strict quality assurance standards, and resolving complex care escalations swiftly and effectively.

With a strong academic and professional background in behavioral health and psychology, Alurabeth brings a uniquely empathetic and insightful lens to care management. This expertise lets her navigate fast-paced healthcare environments with grace, ensuring clients, families, and care teams feel deeply supported during critical moments.

Her core passion is building meaningful, trust-based relationships and continuously elevating the service experience. By pairing a compassionate approach with a results-driven mindset, she excels at creating client-focused solutions that foster long-term stability, safety, and success for everyone involved in the care journey.

Alurabeth is one of the Honor team members Austin works with daily on Southeast Michigan client care.
