What SCAN is

SCAN stands for the Senior Coordinating Aging Network — a non-profit coalition of professionals from public, private, and non-profit agencies who serve older adults. The model is straightforward and effective: members from home care, senior living, hospice, elder-law, geriatric care management, and the regional Area Agency on Aging meet regularly to share information about programs, services, workshops, and legislation that affect Michigan seniors.

The Oakland County chapter brings the network's coordination model to the county we work in every day.

Our role

Austin Adair, owner of Affordable Home Care, represents the agency at SCAN Oakland meetings. He is the agency's sole community-facing and networking contact across Southeast Michigan.

Membership is not a marketing arrangement. There is no referral fee, no co-promotion, and no shared client list. The value families experience is upstream: when a discharge planner or senior-living community already knows how we operate, the hand-off into the home is smoother.

No. Membership does not change pricing, scope of service, or how a caregiver is matched to a family. What it does change is coordination — when a discharge planner, a senior-living community, or an elder-law attorney is already familiar with how we operate, the family on the other end experiences a smoother hand-off.
