Medication Setup Helper & Daily Tracking Log

Helping families set up — and keep track of — daily medications.

This free tool from Affordable Home Care has two purposes: use it in Setup mode to document each medication before loading a pill organizer — record the name, dose, timing, and purpose for every drug. Then switch to Took mode to turn the same log into a daily tracking sheet. Print one copy per day (or per week) so your family member or caregiver can check off each medication as it's taken.

No account required. No sign-up. Your log saves automatically in your browser and reloads the next time you visit.

📋
Setup Mode — Document medications, load pill organizers, hand the printed sheet to pharmacists or doctors.
Took Mode — Track daily doses, print a weekly log, keep the family on the same page.

This is an organizational tool, not medical advice. Always confirm dosing and timing with your loved one's prescribing physician or pharmacist.

Family caregiver guide

Why a printable medication log matters

When a parent or spouse is taking five, ten, or fifteen medications, the difference between a calm week and an emergency room visit often comes down to a single sheet of paper. A current, accurate medication list is the most useful document a family caregiver can keep on the fridge — and the one most often missing when paramedics, ER doctors, or a discharge nurse asks for it.

What this tool does

The Medication Setup Helper lets you build a complete list — name, dose, time of day, purpose, and a physical pill description — in about ten minutes. Medication names auto-complete from the U.S. National Library of Medicine RxTerms database, and the pill description (color, shape, form) is pulled from the FDA openFDA drug label so you do not have to guess what the white oval in the bottle is. Everything saves automatically in your browser. There is no sign-up, no email, no ad, and no upload to our servers.

When families use it most

  • Before a hospital discharge or rehab transfer home
  • When taking over medication setup for an aging parent
  • Bringing a current list to every doctor or specialist visit
  • Onboarding a new caregiver, family member, or home care agency
  • Reviewing prescriptions for duplicates or interactions with the pharmacist

Frequently asked questions

Is this medication log really free?
Yes. The Medication Setup Helper is 100% free with no sign-up, no email required, and no ads. Affordable Home Care provides it as a community resource for families caring for a loved one at home in Southeast Michigan and beyond.
Where are my medications saved?
Your list is saved automatically in your browser (localStorage) on the device you are using. Nothing is uploaded to our servers, and we never see what you enter. Clearing your browser data will erase the log.
How do I print my medication list?
Click the Print button at the top of the tool. The print view is formatted for a standard 8.5×11 sheet, hides the website navigation, and shows medication name, dose, time, purpose, and pill description in a clean grid.
Where do the pill descriptions come from?
When you select a medication, we look it up in the U.S. National Library of Medicine RxTerms database and pull the physical description (color, shape, form) from the FDA openFDA drug label. If a description is not available we leave the field blank for you to fill in.
Can your caregivers give my loved one their medications?
Affordable Home Care is a non-medical agency. Our trained, vetted caregivers can provide medication reminders, set up a weekly pill organizer, and document what was taken — they do not administer or dispense medications. For clinical medication management, please consult your physician or a licensed home health agency.
Should I bring this log to doctor and hospital visits?
Yes — bringing a current, printed medication list to every appointment, ER visit, and hospital discharge meeting is one of the single most useful things a family caregiver can do. It helps prevent dangerous drug interactions and duplicate prescriptions.
